Please join us as we read and discuss the book: Dare to Lead by Brene’ Brown. It’s about brave
work, tough conversations, recognizing the potential in people, and having the courage to
develop that potential! Brene’ shares decades of research in a practical and insightful guide to
courageous leadership. “This book is a road map for anyone who wants to lead mindfully, live
bravely, and dare to lead.”
Participants will read sections of the book in advance and come together on four separate virtual
occasions to have conversations and share ideas. It is exciting to have two practicing
administrators leading and facilitating the conversations!
Presenters/Facilitators Bio:
Sonna Jamerson is the principal of Lucy S Herring Elementary School.
Ms. Jamerson started her teaching career in 1999 in Buncombe County Schools. She assisted with
the merger of North Windy Ridge Intermediate School, the first intermediate school in the state of
North Carolina in 2002. She has taught grades 3, 5, and 6 and spent three years working as an
Academically and Intellectually Gifted Specialist. Ms. Jamerson completed her Masters in K-6
Comprehensive Education in 2002 and obtained National Board for Professional Teaching Standards
Certification in 2005.
Casey Kruk is in his third year as principal at Canton Middle School. He is also pursuing a
doctorate in Educational Leadership. He was formerly at Pisgah High School for 14 years, where
he spent time as a teacher, coach, athletic director, and assistant principal.
