Without\nteams using data in a structured process for making decisions\, MTSS may\nbecome random acts of improvement that aren’t integrated with local\nneeds and resources. \nParticipants will learn:\n• the definition and components of MTSS for reading improvement\n• the characteristics of and processes used by effective teams\n• the characteristics of tiered supports and how to evaluate their\neffectiveness\n• the common MTSS misconceptions and missteps and how to avoid\nor correct them \nThis workshop supports implementation of the concepts\, actions and tools\ncontained in the book\, MTSS For Reading Improvement by Sarah Brown\nand Stephanie Stollar. Reading the book ahead of time is not required but\nwill enhance the learning experience. Participants are encouraged to\nattend as a Building Leadership Teams including representation from\nbuilding leadership\, classroom teachers (general education and special\neducation\, and support staff (interventionists\, SLPs\, school psychologists\,\ncoaches\, etc.) \nPresenter: Stephanie Stollar \nStephanie Stollar is passionate about using MTSS as the framework for helping all students\nbecome skilled readers. Her books include MTSS for Reading Improvement\, Promoting Effective\nMTSS Implementation\, and Reading Assessment Done Right. She’s the founder of the Reading\nScience Academy\, an online community where over a thousand educators support each other to\nimprove results in their schools. She supports effective educator preparation through her\nwork with the National Council on Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) network\,\nSTARS in Higher Education.\nDr. Stollar serves on the boards of the Evidence Advocacy Center and the Innovations in\nEducation Consortium.
