Through practical\nexamples and real-world experiences\, participants will examine how strong administrator-SRO\nrelationships contribute to a positive school climate\, proactive problem-solving\, and a safer\nschool community for all. \nPresenters:\nCaptain Stephanie Cantwell\nCaptain Stephanie Cantwell has more than 20 years of law enforcement experience\, including 14\nyears with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office. Throughout her career\, she has served as a\nPatrol Officer\, Detective\, Training Coordinator\, and School Resource Officer. \nSince joining the School Resource Officer Division in 2018\, Captain Cantwell has advanced\nthrough the ranks of Sergeant\, Lieutenant\, and Captain while building strong partnerships\nbetween schools\, law enforcement\, students\, and families. She has served on numerous school-\nfocused committees\, including the School Safety Advisory Board\, School Justice Partnership\,\nSchool Health Advisory Committee\, Behavioral Threat Assessment Team\, Juvenile Crime\nPrevention Council\, and Handle with Care. \nA strong advocate for collaboration and relationship-building\, Captain Cantwell has helped lead\nschool safety initiatives\, coordinated multi-agency training exercises\, and supported responses to\nschool-related incidents throughout Henderson County. In 2025\, she was appointed to the\nHenderson County Board of Education. \nIn addition to her law enforcement service\, Captain Cantwell is an Adjunct Professor at Blue\nRidge Community College. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Tennessee Technological\nUniversity and a master’s degree in Human Resource and Leadership Development from\nLouisiana State University. Her experience in public safety\, education\, and leadership provides a\nunique perspective on the vital partnership between schools\, administrators\, and School\nResource Officers. \nDr. Carl Taylor\nDr. Carl Taylor has 27 years of experience in public education and currently serves as the Chief\nAdministrative Officer for Henderson County Public Schools. This workshop will be 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. \nAfternoon Session: The afternoon session will be from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm and will be for those NBCTs who are getting ready to renew. This professional development session provides a comprehensive overview of the assessment\, along with practical strategies and resources to help break the process into manageable\, achievable steps. Participants will engage in an in-depth exploration of Task 1\, which focuses on instructional planning\, and will have dedicated time during the session to begin working on their Task 1 submission. To fully participate in session activities\, participants should bring a laptop. \nPresenter: Dr. Myra Watson is an educator whose work focuses on teacher preparation\, early childhood education\, and induction support for early-career teachers in North Carolina.
