Join us as we explore several of the newest picture books for addressing Social and
Emotional Learning (SEL). Our goal is to provide support for our children’s literacy skills
and their SEL growth by intentionally incorporating meaningful picture books. Picture
books promote rich discussions and provide opportunities for reflection.
These books are engaging and can be used as read-alouds to excite students in
reading and writing activities. Teaching strategies will be modeled for helping
students gain independence in reading for aesthetic and personal response, for
information, and for critical analysis and evaluation. Most of all we will provide time for
exploring these wonderful books!  At the end of the session, each participant will receive
their own copy of the books to share with students.
