We are excited to share with you the upcoming Paideia professional development opportunities — all scheduled for November 13-15 in Asheville, NC.
INTRODUCTION TO THE PAIDEIA SEMINAR (NOVEMBER 13-14)
The Paideia Seminar is an integrated literacy event that combines close reading, formal academic dialogue, and the writing process in a way that teaches your students to think critically and creatively about your curriculum. In addition, the Paideia Seminar enhances your students’ social and emotional development while simultaneously engaging them intellectually. During this two-day introduction to the seminar, participants will be involved in an adult Paideia Seminar and learn how to plan and facilitate seminars in their own schools and classrooms.
ADVANCED PAIDEIA INSTRUCTION (NOVEMBER 13-15)
For educators with prior Paideia training and experience, this three-day institute combines individual coaching with advanced instruction in all three columns of Paideia instruction–didactic instruction, academic coaching, and seminar facilitation–as well as the integration of those three modes into a seamless instructional whole. Participants will reflect on their past Seminars and/or Projects and further develop their skills in text selection and question development as well as student product and performance design.
