Description:
This session on differentiation strategies is based on the research of Dr. Jane Kise and her book Doable Differentiation, among other sources. The session will begin with an introduction to the four cognitive processing styles followed by collaborative activities that not only expose participants to differentiation strategies for teaching, but that also model these same strategies. The session will give participants several easy-to-implement teaching approaches that enable teachers to create differentiated lessons without having to redesign their instructional approach from the ground up. The teaching approach to the session will use some of the same techniques, and it will be designed to meet all four cognitive processing styles. The approach will combine hands-on activities, meaningful collaboration, and structure in a way that models this doable approach to differentiation.
