In this session pairings of Middle Grade ELA and science teachers will work together to develop an inquiry based interdisciplinary unit.
ELA and Science: Meeting in the Middle
Presenters will take participants through a model unit in the morning and then provide guided planning time for participants to develop a unit to use with their students. The presentation will also demonstrate a formative instruction cycle, including the development of clear learning outcomes, specific criteria for success and feedback. Eric Grant, English Language Arts 6-12 Coordinator, Buncombe County Schools and Brian Maccarelli, Science K-12 Coordinator, Buncombe County Schools will lead this workshop.
