This full-day workshop is designed for middle and high school world language teachers who want to strengthen their students’ participation and proficiency in writing and speaking. Anchored in the new North Carolina World Language Standards, this session will provide practical strategies and collaborative opportunities for teachers to enhance student engagement and skill development.
We will examine examples of lessons, activities, or assessments and discuss them as a group. Through these discussions and hands-on activities, attendees will leave with actionable ideas and resources to implement immediately in their classrooms.
Presenter:
Angie Ledford has taught French, Spanish, and German, showcasing her versatility in world language instruction. She is an experienced educator specializing in multilingual learner instructional strategies, with several years of experience as an ESL teacher and instructional coach in K-12 settings. She holds a National Board Certification in English as a New Language and is trained in SIOP and GLAD strategies. She is passionate about supporting beginning teachers, offering orientation, mentoring, and training refreshers to help them succeed in their roles. Angie’s in-depth knowledge of state policies on Beginning Teacher Support Programs ensures that educators are well-prepared to meet their challenges.
