School and district leaders will engage in reflection, iteration, and planning for successful remote or hybrid instruction for their schools or LEAs. The focus will be on modeling and embedding the Instruction Design Principles for Remote Teaching and Learning by the Friday Institute to foster professional growth among teachers and improved learning outcomes for students. Participants will walk away with a variety of ideas, strategies, and digital tools to put to use immediately in staff and school community virtual meetings, community events, and daily practice and interactions with stakeholders.

Session 2: October 21, 2020 Shifting Landscapes. Solid Foundations

School and district leaders will explore strategies and tools to support teachers as they develop and implement lesson plans for Plan B remote and in-person learning and on-line academies. This session begins with a foundation of social emotional learning considerations and leads participants to select instructional strategies and content to model and share with their staff.

School and district leaders will engage in reflection, iteration, and planning for ensuring that equity, choice, & flexibility are the norm rather than the exception in their schools or LEAs. Participants will explore and get hands-on practice with a variety of instructional practices and digital tools that they may then model and recommend to teachers in their school to increase equity, choice and flexibility.

School and district leaders will explore tools and strategies to address the remote learning environment including best practices for flipped learning and tips for supporting families, students, and teachers. Participants will receive several tools including rubrics to use to better implement flipped and remote learning in their schools or district in this highly interactive session.
