Co-teaching and Adapting Instruction for Inclusion Classrooms with Rick Welsh Grades 6-8

Are you working with your inclusion teacher effectively? Do you both know the best way to incorporate this process in your 3rd – 8th grade classrooms.   Rick Welsh will be leading a training for co- teaching teams. There will be a high degree of input and participation from the co-teaching teams with minimal emphasis placed on lecture. Audience: 3rd-12th grade teachers

During this session we continue to focus on how to maximize classroom time and student learning by integrating literacy and STEM.The day will be a combination of STEM learning experiences infused with literacy strategies.  The session will concentrate on lessons about cells, and structure to function. Fiction and nonfiction texts are utilized during the workshop. The literacy focus will also be on infographics and how to enhance student’s non-literary text comprehension. This workshop is recommended to be done in conjunction with Literacy and STEM(part 1) and MORE Literacy and STEM (part 2) but can also be taken as a stand alone workshop. Leveraging Fake News to Teach Climate Change

Description: Climate change is a difficult yet important topic to help students understand, and quality curriculum is hard to find. This workshop will lead science educators through a series of free lessons created by teachers and for teachers that tackle much of the fake news and arguments leveraged against climate change. You will also leave with ideas on how to increase student understanding of the science behind climate change through literacy, data analysis, and hands-on activities. Along with the customizable lessons, teachers will receive lunch and substitute reimbursement. Learn from a National Center for Science Education Science Ambassador on how to become more comfortable teaching this controversial and important topic.
