This course examines the influence of  smartphone usage on young people growing up in a society that is dependent on digital devices. After each section, which will consist of reading 1-2 chapters in the book, you will write a summary about specific topics in that section. This is a self-paced course. You will be responsible for purchasing the book.

Online: Substitute 101 – Substitute Teaching Certification

Type:              Online and Self-paced  (you may log in and out of the course as many times as you wish)

Cost:              $45.00

The Substitute 101 course is completely online and self-paced using pre-recorded videos. The course is designed for people who are interested in becoming substitute teachers in their respective school systems. The Substitute 101 course contains four modules and participants will be assessed at the end of each module. Participants must complete all tasks (viewing files/videos) and “Mark them as Complete”, and must score at least 80% correct on each of five quizzes to complete the course.

***There are no refunds for this course.  Before taking this course, it is your responsibility to check with the school district in which you wish to substitute to ensure that the school district will accept the certificate for this course.

Foundations of Reading Test Preparation – Online

 This online course will prepare pre-service and teachers new to NC for the Foundations of Reading Test. Activities, strategies, background reading, vocabulary study, practice questions, and resources will be provided in each of the tested areas: foundations of reading development, development of reading comprehension, reading assessment and instruction, and integration of knowledge and understanding.
