Reconciling IDEA and COVID-19: Current Legal Issues Impacting Remote Instruction and School Re-Opening
“This live 2 hour educational session will focus on current legal issues and best practices regarding both future in-person services and remote service plans for students with disabilities. Attorneys from Campbell Shatley PLLC will address multiple topics including 1) compensatory education v. enhanced services, 2) prior written notice language for categories of students and 3) informed consent documents for in-person Summer services. The session will include a Q&A using the chat feature. The video conference is available to WRESA and NWRESA member districts only.”

In this 60-minute course, Instructional Assistants will explore Choice Boards, learn how they can be used in the classroom for differentiated instruction, and how to make your own to fit your lessons. Writing Workshop – Let’s Get Started
This one hour module is getting familiar and reviewing Writer’s Workshop. This course will review the four components of Writer’s Workshop:
(Mini-Lesson, Status of the Class (Check-In) ,Writing and Conferring, and Sharing). Gather and take some great ideas back to your classroom. “Teaching Writing is a matter of faith. We demonstrate that faith when we listen well, when we refer to our students as writers, when we expect them to love writing and to pour heart and soul into it.” (Lucy Calkins)

As an Instructional Assistant, your role in dealing with parents can be complicated. Getting Through the Rough Patch – Picture Book Activities
In this one hour module we will explore the picture book titled: The Rough Patch by Brian Lies and discover many activities you can help students accomplish as well as enjoying a beautiful story of love, loss, recovery, friendships and new beginnings. This book is a a 2019 Caldecott Model honor book!
