Participants will discover and experience strategies and resources for integrating these issues and topics into the classroom or learning environment.

Wish you could find a way to integrate subjects and revive a thematic approach to teaching? Want to connect students to their community, develop collaboration skills, and grow students’ reading and writing skills? Wish all students could experience the rigor and success of projects, not just your “early finishers/high flyers”? PBL is an engaging and effective teaching method that motivates students to develop deep knowledge about content and provides teachers a framework for launching meaningful, authentic projects. This session will start with a PBL unit simulation based on a relevant, timely adult topic: teacher burnout and wellness. Come experience the steps of a PBL unit and remember the joy and challenge of being a learner. Then put on your teacher hat and use part of the session’s work time and tools to plan for your own launching of a PBL unit. PBL is applicable for all K – 12 classrooms. Participants will need to bring devices.  Dr. Megan Keiser, Teacher Education professor at Brevard College will lead this workshop.
